I'm grateful to be alive..

Yesterday was a bad day.

Matt and I with his kids were driving to his parents for Sunday dinner. We were travelling South of I-15 going about 75 miles an hour in the left lane when the car in the center lane (we must have been in her blind spot)started merging into our lane without indicating almost right into us. Matt swerved our NEW car out of the way onto the shoulder of the freeway and got caught on the soft shoulder, causing him to lose control of the vehicle and go spinning across 3 lanes of traffic, hitting the woman who tried to cut us off in the rear side. From that hit alone, My neck got jostled and I'm in alot of pain today.

That isn't the end of it.

After we hit the Toyota CRV, both cars lost control and went spinning across the freeway together towards the barrier in the middle.

I don't know how but some how the CRV landed on top of our vehicle. My window smashed and so did Joelles. Both of us were covered in glass (my hand and leg are all torn up) and the front tire of the CRV went straight through Joelles window, hitting her in the back of the neck. Seth got a fragment of glass in his eye. Matt is just fine. I went into shock.

Highway patrol were on the scene in under 2 minutes. I think one of them was just doing his normal route because he was so quickly. Numerous people so kindly stopped and called 911 and checked everyone. No one was seriously hurt, but from how fast we spun I thought we were going to flip the car. I have never been so frightened in my life.

The woman and her children were trapped in their car because, well, they were kinda on top of ours. My door didn't open because it was smashed and we all had to climb out. We had 2 ambulances arrive and so many more police. They had to shut down part of the freeway. We were all so shook up, it was so scary.

My new car is no longer my new car. Its totalled. And i really liked it too.

We all went to the ER as a precaution. Everyone in both vehicles turned out okay. The highway patrolman cited the other woman for unsafe lane changing and the woman was NOT impressed. I filed a claim immediately, I need another car.

I hope this wont be a difficult process. I don't want any problems. I just wish this hadnt happened.

Anyway i'm grateful to be alive this week.

Has anyone else been in a serious accident?
